Marriage is the most intimate of natural bonds. It is a lifelong commitment. A Father full of grace is an invaluable help in this commitment. But to receive this help, a Christian must be mindful of the motives behind his actions and guard himself against evil. If they remain dependent on Him and honor God’s Word while seeking the Father’s guidance, He will grant them, in His time and in His way, the desire of their heart (Ps. 21:2; 37:4).

Napoléon Noel (1853-1932) is best known for a voluminous work The History of the Brothers (from approximately 1828 to 1930) where he shows how, with great difficulty, they sought to keep great and precious truths, transmitted in their simplicity by the apostle Paul, long forgotten in the history of the church, brought to light at the time of the Awakening. In the present article he makes a sort of commentary on this story. The enemy's attacks, the difficulties, the weaknesses, the shortcomings, are all considered, with the reflection and perspective that he could have had. His conclusions seem to us to be of great interest for the reader's meditation, hoping that he will benefit greatly from them.

Both J. N. Darby and W. Kelly were deeply committed to meetings of information and assistance for the practical, free and happy maintenance of unity in a city where many local gatherings are held. Their interest is to recall the importance of a united march of the saints, in a local gathering, in the same city, and even beyond any geographical border (1 Cor. 1:2). “It is a unity impossible without the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, and possible today only for the saints assembled in the name of Christ, believing in his presence and expecting his free action by the Word in the assembly. »
