The Apostolic “Fathers,” Christian authors from the 2nd to 8th centuries, helped formulate Church doctrine. In order to defend biblical truth, they have often reformulated it with more or less faithful creeds or apologies. The historical elements presented here are among the earliest documents of our era. Although mainly centered on the theme of the Lord's return in grace, they unfortunately show how quickly Christians have moved away from the teaching of the Word of God. The author analyzes the most obvious causes of this distance.
