Dates et chronologie de l'Écriture

To understand the sequence of chronological markers over time in the Word of God, we must read and meditate on it with humility, care and dependence. Despite the presence of some silence in rare places, patient work leads to a general overview of God's ways on earth through time, since creation. A very large part of the elements on which chronologists rely are imprecise, even futile. For this reason, most disagree among themselves. The only reliable and exact basis remains the Word of God, because it is inspired by God who never makes mistakes. Examining many elements outside of God's Word shows that only God's Word is right and reliable, and only our God is trustworthy.

Garder l'unité de l'Esprit

Refutation of W. J. Ouweneel's work on Sectarianism. The author G. Vogel recalls the essential truths of the Church (or Assembly of God). He responds to unfounded accusations of “sectarianism” and “centralism” and highlights the doctrinal errors that accompany them. He warns against the proposed rapprochement with the “Free Brothers” and the “Large Brothers”. He challenges the so-called “Theology of the Brethren” and denounces the clearly unscriptural philosophical approach adopted by W.J.O.

Hétérodoxie de F.E.R. sur la Personne de Christ

B. W. Newton claimed that the relationship between Christ the man and God was affected by his being born of a woman, thus treating the human nature and the divine nature of the Son separately. But in Him are two natures in one and the same unique, inscrutable Person.

L'épître aux Romains

The Epistle to the Romans shows the irremediable state of man (Jew or Gentile) in his natural state, and the marvelous justification of God wrought by Jesus Christ, for those who believe. It is the basis of salvation and freedom from sin, proclaimed by the gospel. The respective place of the law and promises is not forgotten. The Christian is under grace, he is no longer under the law at all, even a “spiritual” law. Israel's glorious future in a future time, after repentance, is also affirmed.

L'épître aux Galates

The Epistle to the Galatians is intended to affirm the truth of justification by faith in contrast to works of law, but also and above all to warn the saints against mixing Christian doctrine with ordinances and human authority. It is the antidote to the poison of all those who Judaize while confessing the name of the Lord.

L'espérance céleste

W. Kelly presents in great detail the heavenly hope, which will be crowned by the coming of the Lord in grace, on the clouds, for the heavenly saints (John 14; 1 Thess. 4; 1 Cor. 15). It has nothing to do with any event, near or distant, which would be linked to the current history of this world. It speaks to the hearts of true believers in the church and revives their affections for the Lord, the Bridegroom who is coming “soon” (Rev. 22:16 and 20). It is clearly distinguished from his coming (or more precisely from the appearance of his coming) in judgment, on earth, with the heavenly saints. The confusion between these two comings of the Lord, based for a very long time on a bad translation of 2 Thess. 2:1-2, is developed in great detail. More recent critiques of this scriptural distinction are also analyzed carefully and with great clarity.

La Première Épître au Corinthiens

This epistle deals with various subjects relating to the practical conduct of Christians and the public walk of the assembly. It denounces party spirit, unmasks the wisdom of the world, insists on the power of the Spirit, recalls the divine order in the institution of the Lord's supper and the use of spiritual gifts, teaches the unity of the body, commands holy discipline, reproves disputes, insists on personal purity, advises the saints regarding social and family difficulties and decorum, responds to speculations about the future state, exhorts to holiness in walking, recalls the strength of Christian hope, instructs on how to collect and regulates the mutual relations of those who work locally.

La Seconde Épître aux Corinthiens

The second epistle is extremely instructive, because it presents the accuracy and depth of feeling with which the apostle deals with the saints. In a love that does not seek his own interest but that of the Corinthians, Paul speaks of his ministry in suffering and holiness, with the deep exercises of the soul caused by the state of the saints. He fully recognizes the grace which restores the offender and manifests the purity of the assembly (ch.1-7). Being brought back by grace, he then encourages them in the blessed duty and privilege of the church towards the poor saints at all times, namely, to give and to receive (chaps. 8-9). Finally – such a difficult and delicate subject – he joins, in an honest and loving spirit, true humility to the burning indignation against those who oppose the glory of Christ and the blessing of the saints (chaps. 10-13).

La venue du Seigneur, et le jour du Seigneur

W. Kelly shows, through the Word, the essential difference between the coming of the Lord and the day of the Lord. In the first (John 14; 1 Thess. 4; 1 Cor. 15), he will come from heaven on the clouds to meet his resurrected or transmuted people (celestial saints), and bring them to the house of the Father. In the second, he will come from heaven to earth, with the heavenly saints, to exercise judgments and introduce his millennial reign. The first is related to grace, by virtue of redemption; the second (which is spoken of extensively in the Old Testament) relates to service, responsibility, and rewards. The author places great emphasis on 2 Thess. 2, which clearly distinguishes between the two. Alas, Christianity very early on confused the two. The reason rests on the one hand on the alliance of the church with the world, on the other hand on a bad interpretation and a bad translation of this passage. Following the efforts of Satan, Christians, from the beginning of the Christian era, were thus deprived of one of the greatest blessings after redemption: heavenly hope. The period following the Awakening provided an opportunity to bring this and other truths that were essential to grace period believers back into focus.

Le discours sur la Montagne des Oliviers

Very clear exposition of the entire content of chapters 24 and 25 of Matthew. W. Kelly clearly distinguishes three parts: the Jewish disciples, the Christian profession, and the nations. This is a prophecy dealing with the end times. With the exposition of this remarkable teaching of our Lord, the confusion between Israel and the Church, the error of historical interpretation, and the misinterpretations about the timing of the Lord's return to rapture the heavenly saints are expanded with much explanation and pertinent detail from known commentators or scholars.

Le rassemblement des saints selon l'Écriture

The simple teaching of the unity of the Church according to Scripture, communicated by the apostle Paul, was unfortunately quickly diverted or denied in Christianity. The numberless denominations of a dismembered church are an obvious mark of this. So, in the midst of this heartbreaking confusion, what should the believer do? Yet the truth of the unity of the church, the body of Christ, and the gathering of the saints remains. Many believers have benefited immensely from these few basic items. Their attentive reading, Word of God in hand, will speak to the conscience and the heart of those who wish to follow the Lord. It will present them with two alternatives: go to the church “of their choice” or follow divine teaching regarding the gathering of the saints.

Le shéol, le hadès et le paradis

God speaks frankly to us about his holiness which cannot overlook sin, but he also shows us his grace without condition or reservation for those who come by faith under the shelter of the atoning work of Jesus on the cross. What a challenge for the soul, whose outcome and eternal consequence is determined during its stay on earth! The Bible, the Word of God, leaves no credibility to those who want to deny it. “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but whoever disobeys the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36); “And the devil… was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone… and they will be tormented… forever and ever. And I saw... the dead, both great and small, standing before the throne... And the dead were judged according to the things that were written in the books, according to their works... And if anyone was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire” (Rev. 20:10-15).

Lévitique 13-14

Different authors address the subject of the impurity of human nature and its effects. Leprosy, in the Word of God, is an image of sin – both the sin of man in his human nature since the fall, and the sin operating in each man. Every human soul suffers from the same illness and needs the same spiritual remedy. Thus the Word of God always brings newly awakened souls back to the cross of Christ, in which are found the wonderful resources of God for cleansing man from sin. Christians will also find extremely useful practical applications for their life of communion with the Lord and for their communion with one another.

Remarques sur la Bible Darby et son histoire et sur la doctrine de G. Despins

After an introduction on the basics of an approach to the Word of God, a chapter is devoted to textual criticism in general, another to the book by G. Despins itself, one to the question of the so-called “Darby” revision, and one to the teaching of the author (G. Despins).
