Aperçu comparatif des trois premiers Évangiles

“All scripture is inspired by God” (2 Tim. 3:16). The four Gospels, which are part of the Word of God, are no exception to this. The evangelists each gave an account of the life of the Lord according to the character under which it was to be presented, and according to the purpose which the Spirit of God indicated to them. Thus, Mark speaks of the Lord as the perfect Servant and closely follows the chronological order; Matthew presents the Messiah, Son of David, promised to Israel, and the succession of God's dispensations, deviating if necessary from the chronological order; Luke tells us about the Son of Man, grace and the moral aspects of his ministry and often deviates, like Matthew, from the chronological order. John, who highlights the particular glory of the Lord as the Son of God, has a somewhat separate place. Although the Word of God can never be faulted, the correspondence of the gospels is not the primary goal of the Spirit of God. It must therefore be used with caution, and rather as a practical aid to better navigate the Gospels.

Dates et chronologie de l'Écriture

To understand the sequence of chronological markers over time in the Word of God, we must read and meditate on it with humility, care and dependence. Despite the presence of some silence in rare places, patient work leads to a general overview of God's ways on earth through time, since creation. A very large part of the elements on which chronologists rely are imprecise, even futile. For this reason, most disagree among themselves. The only reliable and exact basis remains the Word of God, because it is inspired by God who never makes mistakes. Examining many elements outside of God's Word shows that only God's Word is right and reliable, and only our God is trustworthy.

Deux résumés d'ouvrages de G. Vogel

Summary of a response by G. Vogel to the work Sectarianism by W. J. Ouweneel. G. V. recalls the essential truths of the Church (or Assembly of God). Important issues such as the unity of the assembly, the separation from evil individually and collectively (2 Tim. 2:19-22), the chain of defilement argument and admission to the breaking of bread are carefully addressed. Other equally important points raised in Sectarianism are also discussed, relating to divisions with the 'broad' and 'free' brethren, and the so-called 'Brethren Theology'. By the way, the philosophy adopted by W.J.O. is clearly refuted. On these bases, the accusation of “sectarianism” and “centralism” is addressed, in contrast with the gathering “on the ground of the unity of the body”.

Documents sur le mariage - volume n° 1

The question of marriage is a serious subject that touches on God's order in his creation. Everyone is directly and personally concerned by this subject. Today, in a world that rejects God and in the midst of a generally formal and lifeless professing Christianity, respect for this divine institution has declined considerably. Today's popular and commonplace divorces are inconsistent with what God teaches us in His Word. Authentic Christians, who have placed their trust in God and accepted by faith the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, receive a divine life that equips them with the ability to please God in their daily practical lives. This generally gives remarkable stability to Christian couples. This volume brings together various important documents, from different periods, on the question of marriage, divorce and remarriage. We believe that these documents will be useful to the reader in making him understand the simple and clear teaching of the Word of God on this subject.

Étude sur 2 Tim. 2:19-26

Where does the present confusion come from? Should we be satisfied with this by agreeing to go with the flow, or should we stand firm by going upstream? Is it still necessary to withdraw today, when evil can no longer be removed in a gathering? Reading this extract reminds us that evil is incompatible with the presence of the Lord in the assembly and that, if an assembly refuses to judge evil, the faithful must withdraw from it. Individual fidelity to the Lord is the basis of a faithful collective walk, and not the other way around. Personal purity and holiness (separation) go hand in hand. The position of separation is not something acquired once and for all, neither for an individual, nor for a group; you must constantly be vigilant.

Examen d'un traité sur le baptême

The point developed in this article essentially targets the erroneous teaching according to which salvation follows baptism and is even used for the purpose of giving salvation! It is instructive to see the firmness with which the author refutes this false teaching which affects the purity of the gospel, and at the same time the sobriety of his remarks on the subject of infant baptism.

Faits et théories concernant l’état futur

What is man, soul, consciousness, death, Sheol, Hades, Gehenna, paradise? What is there after death? How will I appear before God? The Word of God clearly answers all these questions. The author also refutes human theories of annihilation and universal salvation.

Garder l'unité de l'Esprit

Refutation of W. J. Ouweneel's work on Sectarianism. The author G. Vogel recalls the essential truths of the Church (or Assembly of God). He responds to unfounded accusations of “sectarianism” and “centralism” and highlights the doctrinal errors that accompany them. He warns against the proposed rapprochement with the “Free Brothers” and the “Large Brothers”. He challenges the so-called “Theology of the Brethren” and denounces the clearly unscriptural philosophical approach adopted by W.J.O.

Hétérodoxie de F.E.R. sur la Personne de Christ

B. W. Newton claimed that the relationship between Christ the man and God was affected by his being born of a woman, thus treating the human nature and the divine nature of the Son separately. But in Him are two natures in one and the same unique, inscrutable Person.

Informe et vide ?

Should we see between Gen. 1:1 and 2 an immense time span, including immense geological times, multiple catastrophes, perhaps also the fall of Satan and the fallen angels? The Word is very sober on the subject, and the danger is great of going further than it allows us to conclude. It is not addressed to the intelligence but to the heart; it presupposes faith: “By faith we understand that the worlds were formed by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made of things that appear. » (Heb. 13:3). God is the only actor and witness of his creation, and therefore the only one authorized to speak about it with wisdom, authority and truth.

Introduction au Nouveau Testament anglais

In his Introduction to the New Testament in English, subsequent to that in French, J. N. Darby provides useful additional information on the way in which he carried out his translation work. The preface to the 3rd edition adds a precise list of the manuscripts used, as well as, at the end, an index of all the Greek words annotated in the English text. It is a wealth of invaluable information for any translator of the New Testament.
